Cleaning - Like the helmet, the visor should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a bit of liquid soap. The concentration and aggressiveness of the soap should not be too strong, as it can accumulate under the plastic parts and cause damage. Visor Cleaner - There are special visor cleaners available that are often used for cleaning the entire helmet. Again, you should not use too much of it to avoid potential damage to the rubber and plastic parts. Drying - To dry the visor and avoid unwanted streaks, a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth should be used. Scratches - Never wipe the visor 'quickly' with motorcycle gloves or other unsuitable or dirty objects! Especially with coated visors, this can lead to scratches. If a visor has severe scratches, it is advisable to replace it. On one hand, the aging process of scratched visors is accelerated, and on the other hand, scratches in the field of vision pose a safety risk. Mirrored visors are particularly prone to scratches if handled carelessly, which can cause unwanted glare. Plasticizers - Visors contain so-called plasticizers, which evaporate over the years, especially with frequent use and UV exposure. As a result, the visor loses its flexibility and in the event of an accident, it can even shatter and cause severe cuts to the face. Replacement - The visor should be replaced after a maximum of five years. The production date of SHOEI visors can be found on the left side of the visor as a four-digit number (month, year).
