Helmet Standard - The current valid ECE R 22/05 helmet standard requires a minimum light transmission of 80% for visors so that they can be used effortlessly around the clock. Visors with a lower light transmission of 50-80% are labeled 'For daytime use only', meaning they are only suitable for daytime use. Cleaning - As with the helmet, lukewarm water with a little liquid soap should be used to clean the visor. The concentration and harshness of the soap should not be too strong, as it can collect under the plastic parts and damage them. Visor Cleaner - There are special visor cleaners available, often also used for the entire helmet. Again, do not use too much to avoid potential damage to the rubber and plastic parts. Drying - To dry the visor and avoid unwanted streaks, a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth should be used. Scratches - Under no circumstances should the visor be wiped 'just like that' with motorcycle gloves or other unsuitable or dirty objects! This can cause scratches, especially on coated visors. If a visor has significant scratches, it is advisable to replace it. Scratched visors accelerate the aging process and pose a safety risk, especially in the field of vision. Mirrored visors can scratch easily if handled carelessly, which can cause unwanted reflections. Plasticizers - Visors contain plasticizers that evaporate over the years, which is exacerbated by frequent use due to UV exposure. As a result, the visor loses its flexibility and can shatter in the event of an accident, causing severe cuts to the face. Replacement - The visor should be replaced after a maximum of five years. The production date of SHOEI visors is located on the left side of the visor with a four-digit number (month, year).
