Cleaning - Like the helmet, the visor should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a small amount of liquid soap. The soap should not be too concentrated or aggressive, as it can accumulate under the plastic parts and cause damage. Visor Cleaners - There are special visor cleaners available that can often also be used for cleaning the entire helmet. It is important not to use too much of these cleaners to avoid potential damage to rubber and plastic parts. Drying - To dry the visor and avoid unwanted streaks, use a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth. Scratches - Never wipe the visor with motorcycle gloves or other unsuitable or dirty items! This can cause scratches, especially on coated visors. If a visor has severe scratches, it is recommended to replace it. Scratched visors age more quickly and pose a safety risk, especially in the field of vision. Mirrored visors can also be easily scratched with improper handling, causing unwanted glare. Plasticizers - Visors contain plasticizers that evaporate over the years, a process accelerated by frequent UV exposure. This results in the visor losing its flexibility, potentially causing it to shatter and produce severe facial cuts in the event of an accident. Replacement - The visor should be replaced after a maximum of five years. The production date of SHOEI visors, for example, can be found on the left side of the visor as a four-digit code (month, year).
