The SHOEI Sun Visor QSV-2 is designed to meet the current ECE R 22/05 helmet standard, which requires visors to have a light transmission of at least 80% to be suitable for 24-hour use. Visors with a light transmission between 50-80% are labeled 'For daytime use only,' indicating they are only appropriate for daytime use. Cleaning: Similar to helmet care, the visor should be cleaned using lukewarm water with a small amount of liquid soap. It's crucial to ensure that the soap concentration isn't too strong, as it can accumulate under plastic parts and cause damage. Visor Cleaner: Special visor cleaners are available, often suitable for cleaning the entire helmet. However, it's important not to use too much to avoid potential damage to rubber and plastic components. Drying: To avoid unwanted streaks, use a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth to dry the visor. Scratches: Never wipe the visor 'on the go' with a motorcycle glove or other unsuitable or dirty objects. Especially with coated visors, this can lead to scratches. If the visor has significant scratches, it should be replaced. Scratched visors not only age faster but also pose a safety risk by obstructing vision. Mirrored visors are particularly susceptible to scratches and can cause inadvertent glare. Plasticizers: Visors contain plasticizers that dissipate over the years, a process accelerated by frequent UV exposure. This loss of flexibility means that the visor could shatter in an accident, causing severe facial cuts. Replacement: The visor should be replaced every five years. For SHOEI visors, the production date is indicated on the left side of the visor with a four-digit code (month, year).
