Helmet Standard - The current valid ECE R 22/05 helmet standard requires visors to have at least 80% light transmission for all-around usage. Visors with a light transmission between 50-80% are marked 'For daytime use only' and are suitable only for daytime use. Cleaning - As with the helmet, the visor should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a bit of liquid soap. The concentration and aggressiveness of the soap should not be too strong to avoid damaging the plastic components. Visor Cleaner - There are special visor cleaners available, which are often used for cleaning the entire helmet. Use them sparingly to prevent any potential damage to rubber and plastic parts. Drying - To dry the visor and avoid unwanted streaks, use a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth. Scratches - Never clean the visor 'just quickly' with your motorcycle glove or other unsuitable or dirty objects! This can lead to scratches, especially on coated visors. If a visor is heavily scratched, it should be replaced. Scratched visors age faster and pose a safety risk, particularly in the field of vision. Mirrored visors can easily scratch and create unwanted glare. Plasticizers - Visors contain plasticizers that evaporate over the years, accelerated by frequent UV exposure. This reduces the visor's flexibility, potentially causing it to shatter and cause severe cuts in an accident. Replacement - The visor should be replaced at least every five years. The production date for SHOEI visors is located on the left side of the visor, displayed as a four-digit number (month, year).
