The SHOEI Visor CNS-1 is designed to meet the current ECE R 22/05 helmet standard, ensuring a light transmittance of at least 80% for 24/7 usability. For visors with 50-80% light transmittance, they are marked as 'For daytime use only,' meaning they are suitable only for daytime use. When it comes to cleaning, it's advisable to use lukewarm water and a bit of liquid soap, similar to helmet cleaning. Avoid using highly concentrated or aggressive soaps as they can accumulate under plastic parts and damage them. Specialized visor cleaners are available and can also be used for cleaning the entire helmet. However, use them sparingly to prevent potential damage to rubber and plastic parts. To dry the visor and avoid unwanted streaks, it’s best to use a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth. Never wipe the visor 'on the go' with motorcycle gloves or other inappropriate or dirty items, as this can cause scratches, especially on coated visors. If a visor has significant scratches, it’s recommended to replace it. Scratches not only accelerate the aging process but also pose a safety risk, particularly in the field of view. Mirrored visors can easily scratch and cause unwanted glare if not handled carefully. Visors contain plasticizers which evaporate over the years, a process accelerated by frequent UV exposure. As a result, the visor loses flexibility, increasing the risk of it shattering and causing severe facial cuts in an accident. Therefore, it’s advisable to replace the visor at least every five years. The production date of SHOEI visors is located on the left side of the visor with a four-digit code (month, year).
