The SHOEI Visor CWR-1 meets the current ECE R 22/05 helmet standards, which require a minimum of 80% light transmission for visors to ensure they can be used around the clock. Visors with lower light transmission, ranging from 50-80%, are labeled 'For daytime use only' and are only suitable for daytime use. For cleaning the visor, it is recommended to use lukewarm water mixed with a bit of mild liquid soap. Harsh concentrations could accumulate under the plastic parts and cause damage. Specialized visor cleaners are available, and they are often used for entire helmet cleaning. However, it’s important not to overuse these cleaners to prevent damage to rubber and plastic parts. To dry the visor, use a lint-free, fine microfiber cloth to avoid unwanted streaks. Never use motorcycle gloves or other unsuitable, dirty objects to quickly wipe your visor, as this can cause scratches, especially on coated visors. If a visor has significant scratches, consider replacing it as scratched visors age faster and pose a safety risk due to impaired visibility. Visors contain plasticizers that evaporate over the years, accelerated by UV exposure, causing the visor to lose its flexibility. In the event of an accident, this could lead to the visor shattering and causing severe facial cuts. It's recommended to replace the visor every five years at the latest. SHOEI visors feature a production date on the left side, indicated by a four-digit number (month, year).
